2019 Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade

Updated August 16, 2019

Your Second Time Arounders are THRILLED to participate in the 2019 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!!

Marching our “second time around” at a parade we all dreamed about marching-in as kids, we’re taking over 800 people to New York including 450 musicians, twirlers, dancers, rifles, letters, and flags; Plus, nearly 400 of their family members and friends!
Band membership for the parade closed on April 15, but you can still cheer us on in NYC as a Tag-Along and of course join the band for our 2020 season with new adventures at the beginning of next year. Learn more about joining the band at: http://secondtimearounders.org/member-info-join/

This is the second time around for the band at the Macy’s parade having marched 512 performers in New York City in 2008. It’s an honor to be chosen once. It’s a rare honor indeed to march this parade a second time!
To our members: Rooms are sold out in the Rounders block. Over 95% of the band is staying at the ROW NYC. Thank you for having made your reservations and for making your remaining payments…on time!
You can book your NYC Excursions (available first-come, first served), as well as add a Broadway show, Thanksgiving Dinner with the band, or your required parade day transportation and breakfast HERE at the following link at WeTravel: (https://www.wetravel.com/trips/new-york-city-excursions-for-the-second-time-arounders-marching-band-performing-arts-consultants-new-york-57160782).

Tickets will be distributed at last rehearsal(s) and/or at the ROW hotel in NYC at the PAC desk.

Parade Viewing: As parade seating for our friends and family is not readily available to ANY Macy’s viewer, the band remains not involved in securing parade viewing. Macy’s recommends viewing the Parade on Central Park West, south of 74th Street and north of 62nd Street. The band is not providing any transportation that morning but encourage friends and family to group together on the subway, cab, Uber, Lyft, etc., toward your chosen viewing destination. This parade viewing link might be helpful to you:  Link Here

Also, our friends at the Offstage Group do have VIP dining and seating arrangements available (first come first served reservations) and have sold multiple dozens to Rounders friends and family. Note that Offstage is NOT affiliated with the band or with our tour group PAC…but instead just another opportunity for you to consider with a discount to the band through late April (full price afterwards as available).

Rehearsal Schedule: Rehearsals for the Macy’s Parade are mandatory and you must attend each and every Fall rehearsal in order to be in the Macy’s Herald Square block. Most sections have scheduled “optional” sectional rehearsals as well to help you prepare for the big week! You can find our mandatory Macy’s rehearsal times and dates here. Please plan accordingly! (http://secondtimearounders.org/member-info-calendar/)

No music can be displayed while you march the parade. Members need come to the first Fall rehearsal with their parts thoroughly memorized. Attending the sectional rehearsals should help you with that requirement!

The Instrument Truck will load from Bringe Music on Saturday morning, November 23. This will be the one and only opportunity to load YOUR large instruments for transport. Be there or make arrangements for someone to be there for you. No exceptions please! You will have access to your instrument in NYC at the Armory Rehearsal, Wednesday night then again as we line-up for the parade. Check with YOUR airline as to specifics in transporting your own instrument as you might care to.

New York, New York: The Rounders will stay in the heart of York City’s Theater District and Times Square at the Row Hotel located at 700 8th Avenue, between 44th and 45th Street, New York, NY 10036. We’ll be in the center of the action at this “downtown cool” boutique twenty-eight floor, 1300+ room Inn.

Our tour partner, Performing Arts Consultants (PAC) has negotiated competitive rates during this peak NYC week that includes complimentary Wi-Fi, 10% discounts at the nearby indoor food markets and gift shop, the mandatory NYC baggage handling fees (welcome to NYC!), resort fees, and, occupancy/state/local taxes). Our booking site is closed. For any “special needs” please contact Lee Lafleur (at the below email address) for consideration. As of August 16, we do have a couple of cancellations looking to reassign their non-refundable rooms!

Thanks for joining our March to Macy’s 2019! Check our frequent band emails for updates!
