Second Time Arounders Marching Band to Perform at Salute To Independence Parade for America’s Semiquincentennial

St. Petersburg, FL and Philadelphia, PA – July 3, 2026 – The Second Time Arounders Marching Band, renowned for its exceptional performances and diverse membership, is thrilled to announce its participation in the Salute To Independence Parade in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on July 3rd, 2026. This prestigious event commemorates the Semiquincentennial, marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

In addition to their upcoming performance, the Second Time Arounders Marching Band is excited to announce that they have openings for musicians and flag twirlers. This is a unique opportunity for individuals who have a background in music or color guard to join a vibrant community and participate in thrilling performances.

“We welcome anyone who has previously participated in high school, college or military band to join us,” said Steve Cantin, Director of the Second Time Arounders Marching Band. “The Second Time Arounders offers a wonderful opportunity to rekindle your love for marching band and be part of a lively musical community.”

As the nation celebrates this historic milestone, the Second Time Arounders Marching Band, based in St. Petersburg, Florida, is honored to join the festivities in the city where it all began. Founded in 1983, the band comprises former high school and college band members who share a passion for music and performance. With ages ranging from 18 to over 80, the ensemble embodies the spirit of unity and community, making it a fitting participant in this significant celebration.

“The Semiquincentennial is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and we are incredibly excited to be part of such a momentous occasion,” said Cantin. “Our members are looking forward to sharing our love of music and performance with the thousands of spectators in Philadelphia and celebrating America’s 250th birthday in the birthplace of our nation. New members who join in 2025 will be eligible to perform with us in the Salute To Independence Parade in 2026.”

The Salute To Independence Parade will feature a diverse array of participants, including marching bands, military units, cultural organizations, and historical reenactments, showcasing the rich tapestry of American history and culture. The Second Time Arounders will perform a selection of patriotic tunes and crowd favorites, bringing their signature energy and enthusiasm to the parade route.
